From what we can remember, Eircooled monthly meets took place at Eddie Rockets in Stillorgan Shopping Centre in or around 2010 to possibly 2013, give or take a year or two and then the numbers sadly fell off and the meetings stopped happening. The meetings have since resumed thankfully, in a different location, but the numbers are up which is great to see. We love to see people enjoying their old VWs.
Geoff Forde took these photos when he came along to one of the Stillorgan Shopping Centre monthly meetings in his Bay Window Camper. This Beetle is a 1966 model but was assembled in late 1965 and registered in December that year in Tipperary South. The 1300 Beetle Deluxe was painted VW Blue (L633) and looked impressive that night in Stillorgan, having had a full restoration. It’s rare to find a 60’s Beetle restored to stock and being so useable. Well done to the owner.
Hopefully we will see this Beetle out and about again as we have not seen it in a number of years.
