This Last Edition Beetle was supplied new on 22nd August 1978 by Fenns of Burton, VW Dealer, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England to Mr E. Lakin and was registered with registration number AFP921T.
Over the following 38 years, the car has had 6 owners, 3 changes of registration numbers and has travelled 96,000 miles in the UK. During that time, the car also had a complete restoration and is now in pristine condition.
Now the car is into its 39th year and has started a complete new chapter in its life – it has emigrated to Ireland. The car now has an Irish Registration No. in Co. Mayo, Ireland, namely, 78 MO 10002. It felt appropriate to give the car a name, so “MoBee”, for “Mayo Beetle”, was agreed upon.
MoBee has joined the Western Veteran and Vintage Motor Club, based in the West of Ireland, and the Automobile Association of Ireland, so will be participating in many touring events throughout Ireland in the future.
The Last Edition Beetles were all finished in L97A Diamond Silver Metallic paint. This colour is still available, so a good match is possible for resprays and repairs.
