Custom and Wizard Roadster

This full-on custom Beetle is a fibreglass-kitted Wizard Roadster. Popular in the 90s, the moulded parts usually came from the UK and replaced the whole roof of the original car with a fibreglass rear deck, a shortened engine lid, all four wings, running boards and bonnet.
It’s not known if this 1970 car was imported as a regular Beetle and converted to a Roadster in Ireland or if it was imported as a completed conversion. I suspect the latter is true.
It was shown at the Limerick VW show in 2003 and was obviously the owner’s pride and joy.
While to some the Wizard would be an acquired taste, we at Beetle.ie celebrate all aspects of vintage VW ownership.
