Originally a UK specification 1303, this 1973 1303 was imported into Ireland and registered to its first Irish owner in Kerry back in 1982. Excuse the photo but on this occasion the photographer will blame the camera and rightly so because it was handed down, more likely thrown down, from my older sister. The poor camera couldn’t focus so I have a pile of wasted shots of old Beetles. To give you an idea what they’re like, this is one of the better ones!
Ignoring the shonky shot, I photographed this Marathon Metallic Blue (L96M) in the car park of Colbert train station, Limerick way back in May 1990. The 1303 hasn’t been on the road in many years which is never a good sign.
