Bay Window Minibus
Info
Hi Cathal,
This is my Bay Window that I plan to restore. It was owned by a VW dealer in Birr in County Offaly and it’s and original 9 seater minibus. Back in the day it brought tourists from Shannon harbour in Banagher off the cruise boats to Birr Castle. It still has the Emerald Star Line sticker on the back window!
I bought it off the son of the dealer last year it was lying up since the 1980’s.
I plan to restore it to it’s original glory as soon as I can.
There’s quite a bit of rust on the roof near the windscreen and the usual 6 inches all around but not a basketcase by any means.
I’m pretty sure the engine wont be original but I’m not 100% sure –
EDIT Beetle.ie – we have looked at your engine number and it appears to be a rebuilt engine. Best of luck with the restoration and keep us informed as you go.
