Model information
Type 2 Bay Window and Type 2 Minibus
Info
Thanks Noah for adding this Bay Window Tin Top to the Beetle.ie Census.
“This Bay Window used to be up the road from me and was on the same road as 5338 IZ for a time but then disappeared.”
From what we know, this Bay Window was brought in by MDL as a completely built up Panel Van from the factory in Germany which then had the windows cut into it. It was finished in Senegal Red (L31A) under Atlas White (L91Z), with the bumpers also receiving a coat of Atlas White.
On July 15th 1977, this Minibus was sent to Brady’s VW dealership in Dublin where it was sold and subsequently registered in Dublin on July 15th. When Noah snapped this Bus it was still running its original 1600cc engine. The Bus itself appears to be very original, albeit it with a replacement rear hatch, and still wears its original number plates that were fitted by Brady’s back in July 1977.
