1200 Beetle Deluxe

Tom Flanagan from Waterford submitted this Beetle to the Beetle.ie Census. The photo is an old one and was taken at the Eirespares run on the Saturday before his static show on the Sunday. Although we’re not too sure of the exact year, we know it would have been in the early 2000s, we do know the location as this was Martin’s cruise around Lough Derg in County Tipperary. Time to dig through the Beetle.ie archives for the date of this cruise!
The late 1963/early 1964 Beetle that Tom snapped was a model and finished in Deluxe spec. It’s painted Pearl White (L87) and seemed to have been out of a recent renovation so whoever it was that imported this Beetle into Ireland and registered it in County Clare back then had great taste. We wonder what happened to it because early ‘big window’ Beetles are not so common on these shores and we would love to see it out and about once more.
