Back when old VWs were simply daily hacks for many people, this particular Beetle was being very well minded by its owner. It would have been coming on for 20 years old then but it was in excellent condition. This Sumatra Green (L61B) 1200 Deluxe Beetle was sold from Cunnane’s of Foynes who were main VW dealers at the time. It was registered to its first owner in Limerick City on March 1st 1972. It left Cunnane’s with VW logo mudflaps and bumper overriders as extras.
I took this photo on O’Curry Street in Limerick City and just out of shot was a lovely daily driven 1300S or Power Pack Beetle. Ah, the days when old VWs filled our streets! Sadly, we tend to see old VWs only on fine days and show days.
