We have no connection to the car and have not seen it in person so if you are interested, then please contact them directly.
This Java Green (L518) Beetle was assembled in Dublin and sent to Smiths Garage in Roscommon at the start of January but somehow managed to end up being registered in Dublin on January 13th 1966. It’s possible the Beetle was bought by a Dublin owner who was shopping around but it’s also possible that the car was traded with another dealer who was looking for such a car. It’s all guesswork as we have no documentation to say otherwise.
It’s a nice looking Beetle that’s been lowered but all of the original parts are there so you can easily convert it back to stock should you wish. I’d imagine it needs some rust repair as I can see some areas in the photos that would lead us to believe there’s more there once you strip it down but isn’t that always the way with old cars? It would need a complete mechanical overhaul including the fuel system as it has been off the road since 2008. Overall though it looks quite complete and a good restoration candidate. We’re not sure what price they are asking as it is a closed auction apparently.
