Following on from 1198 ZO, here’s another cropped photo. I took the main photo while on a Southern Volks Folks run to Tramore back in the 1990s but when I realised that this Beetle, which was in the background, was not on the census, I had to crop the original photo down to feature this Beetle only.
LKI 646 was a 1971 1200 Beetle Deluxe, assembled in Dublin and painted Niagara Blue (L53D). The Beetle looked to be very original and certainly wasn’t modified and it was being offered for sale by the owner on the day. The price was very reasonable at just £1,250, which even by the prices back then, it was a bargain, especially as this original Waterford registered Beetle was a one owner from new car…….if only we knew then how rare a one or even a low owner VW would become!
