Model information

1200 Beetle Deluxe

Info

The Airchords were a showband from the 1960s, based in Dublin, who used this Beetle, along with another almost identical Beetle, to transport themselves and their equipment from gig to gig. They must have looked quite the sight pulling up outside their next venue; two Beetles, packed with musicians, their instruments and of course, both Beetles had military style signwriting!

The military connection was no coincidence as all of the members of the Airchords were former members of Irish Army Air Corps, hence the name.

This particular Beetle was an Irish assembled model, put together on the Naas Road in Dublin way back in October 1964. The Pearl White (L87) 1200 Deluxe model was registered (to a Dublin owner) in November 1964.
