Info

This photo comes courtesy of John Dempsey. “Hi Cathal. I don’t know much only that Da bought it new. He had Beetles all his younger years and he even had a sports VW but I could never remember exactly what model it was. He then went on to Variants when the kids started arriving. We had 2 different 412 models after that one. I was chatting my oldest brother and he thinks my uncle Tom’s stag party finished that car. My Da and Tom were on their way home with Tom at the wheel when they crashed on a bad bridge near Rhode. His wedding was postponed for 3 months because of his injuries and he had to wear dark glasses on his wedding day.”

From what we can establish. this 1970 Offaly registered Type 3 Variant was finished in Kansas Beige (L91D). John posted this photo on the Original Irish Aircooled VW Facebook page and Johnny Bambury commented on this photo saying “Loved the Variants. My brother had two; NZB 416 and EZK 202.”
