Model information

Type 2 Split Window Minibus

This is Andrew O’Shea’s photo that was taken in 1961. Andrew sent us the following information to accompany the photo.

“Hello Cathal. My father bought it in June 1958 in Tarrant Banteer. I think he paid £700 for it and I have the paid cheque still. It was his first VW and it replaced a big old Ford V8 Woodie Station Wagon that he used as a hackney. The colour was dark green and cream and it had the door pillar traficators. He held it for 4 years and  he did a lot of work with it  He replaced it with a much more upmarket 23 window rag top in 1963.”

Sadly there are no more photos of Andrew’s father’s Bus but from Andrew’s information, we would assume that it was Palm Green (L312) under Sand Green (L311) which must have looked amazing touring around Kerry.
