Acorn Tours have submitted this Volkswagen to the Beetle.ie Census. Apparently this is a well known VW in the area of Moyne in County Longford, but if you’re local to Moyne then you’ll already know that. According to Acorm Tours, this Volkswagen is still in regular use by its owner which is great to see. SO many old Volkswagens have become showpieces that they are not enjoyed and the public don’t get to see them but not HIX 260!
This was one of the last Type 2 Bay Window Single Cabs to be sold in Ireland so it’s rare in that respect but it is also rare in that it is still in use in the original county it was sold in. We have to look up the information but we imagine that when this this Bay Window was sold in November 1977 that it was sold from O’Reilly’s Volkswagen dealership in Longford.
Well done to Mr. Milton C Hardcastle on maintaining and enjoying his lovely but still very practical classic VW. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for this Reef Blue (L57H) Single Cab the next time we’re in Longford.
