1303 Beetle and Automatic
Info
An Automatic Beetle was always a rarity in Ireland and even more these days. This particular 1303 was spotted on April 28th 1990 in Gaynor McVeagh’s garage in Dublin. It’s a 1973 1303 with a 1600cc motor and automatic gearbox which was imported in 1984, well, it may have been imported beforehand but wasn’t registered until 1984 in Dublin.
The 1303 featured a few little accessories and upgrades to allow this VW stand out from the crowd such as wide wheels (white with the usual red stripe along the edges), a Zoom Tube for no other reason than to annoy your neighbours at 4am on the way home! It also received some shiny accessories like bumper over-riders, rain gutter trim, engine lid vent trims and front wing mounted stone guards.
