Thanks to Roger O’Sullivan for sending us this photo of a 1967 Anthracite Grey (L469) 1200 Beetle Deluxe that he spotted in Cork many years ago.
Assembled in Dublin in August 1967, this Anthracite Grey Beetle was delivered to its selling dealer which was Christy Crowley in Skibbereen, County Cork. It was first registered in the county of Cork (ZK) on September 4th 1967.
When Roger O’Sullivan snapped this Beetle it was looking very well and still wore its original number plates which is always a good sign. The original 1200cc engine was still pushing this Beetle around Cork and there was also a spotlight mounted to the front bumper bracket. Also still in place were the original and now very hard to find 1966/7 hubcaps. If you’re restoring a Beetle from 1966 or 67 then you’ll know all about these hubcaps and just how hard they are to find nowadays.
