Model information
1300 Beetle Deluxe
Info
“This was my dad’s Beetle. It was a 1966 1300cc 6 volt model but it also had a steel sliding sunroof. My dad bought it in 1969/1970 and the main photo is of my mam on their honeymoon in 1971 in Kerry.
Dad sold the Beetle to his brother in 1974 when I was 2 years old. I loved the car, especially the open sunroof! That was the start of my love for Beetles and even my 3 kids love Beetles.
The photo with the Beetle in the background was taken before dad sold it because I was 2 years old then. I remember the outer edge of the rims were white. The other photo is me again, in sunglasses, with my cousin and you can see it had an off white interior.”
Thanks for adding these amazing family photos Brian. Your dad’s old Anthracite Grey (L469) Beetle would have been quite rare, even back then because it had a steel sliding sunroof. So few Beetles were ordered with accessories, let alone a sunroof!
