Jeans Beetle
Info
Born on the 28th June 1974 our beloved Jeans Beetle now affectionately knows as Amy came into our possession in March 2020. By way of background I have always been drawn to the fabulous Phoenix Red colour – my first Beetle being an Irish Phoneix Red model from 1975. I came across the car in early 2020 being advertised for sale in Plymouth UK. The “Jeans” edition was new to me but having researched the heritage of the Jeans version I knew that I had found a completely original and unaltered survivor.
It started its life in Dusseldorf, Germany and lived there from 1974 until 1988 when it made it’s way to the UK. The previous owner to us bought it in 2003 and used it as a daily driver over all those years until he sold it in March 2020. Being a mechanic he kept the car well and it had regular MOT’s carried out. Of course being a 46 year old car it does show its age in places but overall it is in great condition with its original engine still performing well. It had the benefit of a full re-spray in 2017 with heater channels and floor plans replaced.
Proof that all is in tip top order it made the 550km journey back to Co. Kildare in early March 2020 without incident. A most enjoyable, but tiring 18 hour roadtrip! Since its arrival it has been lovingly stored and cosmetic works completed including restoration of the bumpers, wheels, brackets, new carpet set, sound deadening and engine service. Little jobs are planned but for now it is enjoying its new lease of life and takes pride of place in our Garage.
