Model information

Type 3 Variant

We have two people to thank for submitting photos and information on this 1973 Type 3 Variant. Firstly Roger O’Sullivan who spotted this Variant at the Durrown Vintage Show on April 18th 2010 and secondly we have Jim McCallum who snapped this Variant while he was at the Mosney Classic Car Show in 2011.

This particular Type 3 is the Variant or estate model. It was first registered in the UK at the start of June 1973 and found its way to Ireland in the 1990s we believe. It was registered to its first owner in County Meath and it is still there today, although we are not sure if it is with that same owner. It’s a 1600cc powerplant out the back and it was finished in Pastel White (L90D)

It looks like a really nice and original VW and one that is minded by its owner.
