Model information
Bay Window Westfalia Camper and Early Bay
Info
I bought this original US Import VW Westfalia camper in around 2001 in Kanturk in Cork, from a buyer who swore it was a “German import”, imported in the 1970’s when someone brought it on holidays. Of course, the side markers on the front doors and bumper overriders give the game away. It has an original US “Federal” sticker on the driver’s door jamb, so it is a 100% LHD American import.
This bus also came with an original Eberspächer petrol heater and was running when I sold it to Frank Kruger in 2006 before emigrating to the US myself. As the last pic shows, it was sold on and restored, where it can still be found popping up at shows in Ireland.
