This isn’t the first engine lid with a number plate that we have added to the Beetle.ie Census and I’d be fairly sure, it won’t be the last! When photos like this are submitted it’s fair to say that the Beetle has been scrapped and this is the case here. Tommy Walsh submitted the photo but it was Ronan Flynn who added the background to this Beetle. Ronan; “That car belonged to my brother at one time, we broke it for parts to restore another one.”
This Sumatra Green (L61B) 1200 Beetle Deluxe was registered in Limerick County in 1973 but all that is left is the engine lid which now hangs on a wall in Kerry until Tommy can reunite it with Ronan where it will hang on their wall.
