Noah Ryan originally spotted this Bay Window for sale back at the start of lockdown, so March 2020. It was sold to a new owner but about a year later it came up for sale again and this time Noah was determined to capture it for the Beetle.ie Census.
So what do we know, well, this camper didn’t start life as a camper, but as a Panel Van. This is a 1979 Bay Window so would have been one of the last Type 2 Bay Windows to have been sold here in Ireland before the more modern T25 models hit the dealers stock lists.
This June 1979 Dublin registered Panel received a bare metal restoration in 2006/2007 and was painted red under white. We’re not sure if the VW colour chart was used or not but either way it was an excellent colour choice. At some point in its life, maybe during the 2006/2007 restoration, a Devon pop-up roof was installed to make life a little easier in the camper. Inside there is a ¾ width rock n’roll bed, a split charge relay system, a leisure battery and a drive away awning which the seller was including in the sale
