Model information

1300 Beetle Deluxe

My dad’s 1971 VW Beetle 1300cc taken on Ballyroan Road, Rathfarnham around 1980. Had lots of fun times as kids in the car. Wonder if it survived? My dad bought the Beetle new in Kenilworth Motors [I think that’s what it was called]… down near Harolds Cross.

Beetle.ie: Thanks for emailing a photo and some information on your dad’s old Beetle David. I can’t see anything on the records showing it survived but we’ve seen it many times before where an old VW doesn’t show up on any modern files but emerges from storage many years later. Stranger things have happened. There weren’t too many Beetles assembled in early 1971 that were finished in white, especially with 1300cc engines so it was quite unique. Kenilworth Motors was called VW Motors when your dad would have bought his Beetle. Here’s hoping we can find out some information for you David.
