Type 3 Fastback
This fastback was dragged from an old poultry shed in Northern Ireland although the car itself lived in Dublin most of its life. I was told by the previous owner he belonged to a film\TV producer\director and had a cameo appearance in an Irish TV drama series Ballykissangel.
After all the necessary paperwork left it ready for the road. The car was re-commissioned for the road with tyres, fuel hose and a service. The plan was to drive, enjoy and fix those things that broke along the way. It brings a smile to my face everyday we go on tour. I get asked everyday am I going to restore the car, my standard reply is “No. I am just driving and enjoying it”
The kids love getting collected from school on a Friday and then attending various VW shows and family days out. The little Type 3 was christened the Chicken-Shed Fastback but as the car style has evolved he has affectionately become known as Marmite Marvin. He really is a love it or loathe it type character.
We all love him…roll on the summer evenings when Marvin will be stretching his legs and basking in the sun.
