Patrick Lynch was in touch recently and was wondering if his old Beetle 2728 ZL was still around. When Patrick owned it, the custom scene was in full flow, with Cal Look being the style of choice. The Beetle had changed quite a lot since leaving MDL’s assembly line at the end of the Summer in 1973. For one thing, the colour was changed from Senegal Red (L31A) to peppermint green and as was the norm back then, all chrome, including bumpers were removed. The number plate light was also removed to give a smoother look all round.
