This pink Beetle was originally a Havana Brown 1200 but was painted by Tony Cross in Limerick for ‘The Outback’ in Nancy Blakes bar in Limerick city. I was allowed use this car for a while and the 1600cc engine that replaced the 1200cc engine certainly gave it some extra power.
This Beetle stayed as it was for a number of years but disappeared and may be scrapped now.
UPDATE 11-03-2024: “Cathal, I recognised the registration plate and found the old front plate in my dads garage, Damien.”
Thanks to Damien for taking the time to submit this photo. Sadly, Damien’s father, a man that taught me so much about Beetles, recently passed away. May Tony rest in peace.
