Although March 2010 doesn’t seem that long ago, well, to us oldies anyway, it is 13 years ago (at the time of writing) so we’re not sure if this Beetle is still around. The person who snapped this 1977 1200N Beetle was Keith Barrett, a long time VW enthusiast based in Cork but even he was surprised to see a Beetle ‘in the wild’ so to speak as they, like so many other classic cars, are limited use vehicles nowadays and tend to be seen on a Sunday, Saturday if you’re lucky.
When Keith stopped to take a closer look he was really impressed with the car, having had a restoration and a repaint in metallic gold. I think the restoration may have been done by Emilio’s Beetles in Kildare, but I will check with Emilio to confirm. The Beetle looked like all it needed was a good wash and off it would go, looking as good as new.
