1200 Beetle Deluxe
Info
This not so much another vintage VW being added to the Beetle.ie Census as it is a missing Beetle listing!
Hilary Kelly has been in touch looking for her dad’s old Beetle. Hilary thinks it was last seen/owned near Roscrea in Tipperary so perhaps you’ve seen it in someone’s shed or barn? Despite the condition it may be in Hilary would love to hear from you with any information as to the whereabouts of this old family Beetle.
KCI 377 was built in Dublin before being transported to Cunningham’s of Portlaoise. This Havana Brown 1200 Beetle was bought by its first owner in the summer of 1972 and given its ‘CI’ registration for County Laois.
All that information pales into insignificance when you look at the photo because this Beetle was the best place to play in and to hang out at! I’m sure Hilary can still remember the smell of the old Beetle and the noise the squeaky seats made when you bounced up and down on them or the warmth and reassuring hum of the engine when you managed to score the most prized seat in the Beetle; the special space behind the back seat, right under the rear window!
Let’s see if we can reunite Hilary with this nostalgic piece of her past. If you have any information please get in touch beetleireland@gmail.com or 0861665577
