Gemma Buggle has added this Beetle to the Beetle.ie Census and it’s a very personal memory to Gemma as this photo shows her father standing beside his pride and joy; his 1960 Kildare registered Beetle.
This 1200 Beetle Deluxe was assembled at the MDL plant on the Naas Road in Dublin, as possibly Arctic White (L363) but it’s hard to tell from the old black and white photo. The Beetle was then sent to PJ Woods in Clane, County Kildare from where it was sold and then registered to its Kildare owner. Gemma’s dad was from Ardclough in County Kildare and she believes that is where the photo was taken.
We love these period photographs here at Beetle.ie as they really are a snapshot into life as it was a time when these old Volkswagens were new and just simple every day transport. Thanks to Gemma for submitting this fantastic photo.
