Info
My wife and I have owned this beetle since August 2014. I am unsure as to when the car was imported into Ireland.
It’s a 1969 Rhd 1500 deluxe, originally l620 savanna beige but was resprayed l630 cobalt blue in 1973 after a front end bang or so the story goes.
When we bought the car the entire bottom 6” of the car was rotting away. It had very little of the wiring loom left and the original engine had been replaced with a later model 1600.
My wife and I started “Jeremy’s “ (the beetles name) restoration in September 2017 and we put him back on the road in February 2018. With the exception of the engine we did the restoration work ourselves. The Interior has to be finished.
He has a fully rebuild 1600 twinport engine with new crank, rods, pistons and a full flow modification added. The car is running a full limebugs lowering kit. 4” narrowed beam with Monroe air shocks up front. 2” adjustable rear drop spring plates. 4.5” front SSP Fuchs alloys and 5.5” rear.
