It’s not often we see a Karmann Ghia on the roads or at shows so it was a real treat for us to see this August ’72 Karmann Ghia displayed at the 2017 Ballinakill Show in Portlaoise. This 1600cc ‘sports car’ may not have the power of its more affluent cousin in the Porsche family but it absolutely has the looks. In our eyes, the Type 1 Karmann Ghia is the best looking car ever! Ok, we’re slightly biased but it is a beauty.
This Ghia is totally stock which makes a refreshing change from the modified Ghias, especially late models like this one. You could be forgiven for forgetting what a stock one is supposed to look like! We loved the old style Irish number plates with red rear and white fronts; simple detail but it makes such a difference to the look.
This KG is a credit to the owner.
