Tony Groome emailed us with photos of this custom Beetle that he saw at a classic car show. The Meath registered Beetle has been modified to such an extent that it is difficult to recognise it as a 1971 Beetle. Looking nothing like it did in June ’71 when it first hit the roads of the UK, this white Beetle has been lowered, has earlier wings, lights, bonnet and engine lid and has been fitted with blade bumpers. The glass, including the one piece door glass has been tinted. It’s a great look and really makes this custom Beetle stand out from the crowd and I’m sure the 1600cc engine makes a throaty sound when it’s on the move.
