We’ve seen this Beetle loads of times over the years and we love to see it pulling into a show. It’s one of those rare cars in that it’s not trying too hard to look anything other than it is, a well worn, lowered, fast VW! Sometimes Rat Look can be overdone but we think Diarmaid has nailed it with this Beetle so we were delighted when we saw that Diarmaid submitted his Bug to the Beetle.ie Census. We’ll let Diarmaid tell you all about his Beetle.
“This Bug was an eBay purchase back in 2009. I flew over to Hull in the UK to drive it back to Ireland. I don’t have any information on the history of it, except that it has had a lot of engines over the years, it even spent a bit of time on the drag strip. It currently has a 1600cc engine with twin Kadron carbs in it. Nice solid Bug with the rat look.”
