Model information

Squareback and Type 3 Variant

Info

We can always rely on Noah Ryan to unearth classic VWs and he hasn’t disappointed this time with this beauty!

Noah spotted this Type 3 Variant the other day while out looking for classic cars. This Variant, or Squareback as we should refer to it, seeing as it is a US spec import and that’s what they’re called on that side of the pond.

This Type 3 is a daily driver by all accounts and is in quite original condition. In many ways, these VWs are the most practical of all classic aircooled VWs as you have masses of storage space, reliable engines and they are a far more comfortable car to drive when compared to a Beetle of similar age.

The wide chrome steel rims with hubcaps is a great look but sadly they look like they have succumbed to the Irish damp weather.

It’s great to see a Type 3 ‘in the wild’ because they, like any classic aircooled VW, are becoming a rare sight on our roads these days.

Thanks again to Noah for keeping an eagle eye for aircooled VWs on the streets of Dublin.
