Built in Dublin, this Gentian Blue (L51B) 1200 Beetle Deluxe was sold from Brady’s VW Dealership in Castleknock and registered to its first owner in Wicklow on the 19th August 1974. Many years later I photographed it when it was parked in Ballinteer, Dublin.
It looked to have survived quite well, having being minded throughout its life judging by how original it was, including the original rear window dealer sticker from Brady’s of Castleknock. The question is, did it survive all of the scrappage deals and low cost finance offers by the garages to make it all the way to 2020?
