Jim McCallum submitted this screenshot from a TV programme on the fuel crisis in 1979. This Elm Green (L60D) 1600cc Variant would have been six years old when it was captured on film but as any Type 3 owner knows, they weren’t the lightest on petrol so driving this thirsty VW during a petrol crisis must have been a challenge at the best of times. We love the rubber bumper trim accessory. A nice little detail on this now rare VW.
