Model information

1200 Beetle Deluxe

My first ever Beetle was a 1969 Savannah Beige (L620) 1200 just like this one so I have real soft spot for them. They still retain the classic Beetle touches like the chrome strips across the dashboard, the D-ring horn and the dash mounted switches, as opposed to the wiper arms from 1972 on but benefit from more modern mechanical updates which makes driving a little easier than those even just two years older.

The photo of this Galway registered 1200 Beetle Deluxe was found by Darren O’Rourke of the Original Irish Aircooled VW Facebook group and apart from the fact that the owner looks to have gotten a parking ticket for parking on double yellow lines, very little is known about this Beetle or its owner. It looks to have been very well kept but sadly it didn’t make it beyond the digitising of the tax system in 1993.
