1200 Beetle Deluxe
Info
When Andy Kelly emailed us with these photos we couldn’t wait to add this Beetle to the Beetle.ie Census. It really shows what once was a common sight all over Ireland, old cars dumped in fields, gradually dissolving in our damp climate until one day there would be nothing but a few unrecognisable pieces of metal remaining.
Bad as this Beetle is, it could be saved, with enough effort and money thrown at it of course but in reality the financial outlay would far outweigh any end value. Despite that, the owner told Andy that if his son returns from the US he plans to restore the Beetle.
This particular Beetle is a 1977 1200 Deluxe in Dakota Beige (L13A). It was sold from PMPA in Waterford in May 1977 but is now resting in a field in Tipperary.
