Remember those days when you could drive only a short distance from your house and pick up a Beetle? I picked this one up in Lisnagry in Limerick from a farmer who had it in his barn. I got it for the pocket money bursting price of zero pounds but for the life of me I can’t remember how I got it home. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t on a tow truck so who knows what way I dragged this Beetle home!
It was a beautiful colour combo of black exterior paint and a brick red interior. The original paint came back to life with a polish but of course there was rust, a lot back then but nothing by today’s standards. As you can see it needed front quarters, the driver’s side being the worst but back then it was easier to just go out and find a better one than to restore one that was too far gone, again, not by today’s standards.
