Les Corbett is the owner of PTI 779, a stunning Karmann Ghia that he has modified over the course of his ownership to include air suspension and a Subaru engine conversion so it’s fair to say he knows his VWs.
When Les was in Bray on April 12th (2023) he came across this stunning looking Beetle. The colour came alive in the spring sunshine and its condition was what really surprised him. It looked factory fresh which is a credit to its owner and the restorer, who may in fact be the same people as we don’t know anything other than what Les was able to tell us from his quick look over the car.
This 1200 Beetle Deluxe model was assembled in Dublin in January 1976 before being sent to Westmeath to be sold and ultimately registered to its first owner in February. We don’t know when this Westmeath registered Beetle made the trip across a few county lines to end up in County Wicklow but along the way it found a caring owner that’s for sure.
