Model information
Oval Window Beetle Deluxe
Info
This sorry looking scene was captured in Kerry decades ago. The Oval Window Beetle was assembled in Ireland and then sent to The Service Garage on Mulgrave Street in Limerick where Joe and May Hayes would have taken delivery of this Light Beige (L275) Deluxe model, adding it to their sales listing.
The Beetle was then sold to a company called Reynolds & Co. who were based on Roches Street in Limerick on February 2nd 1955 and given the registration number TI 7236, TI being a Limerick City registration.
We don’t have any other information about this Beetle or more importantly, how the poor driver, and any passengers, were after this serious impact but what we can easily surmise is that this Beetle never made it back to Limerick, instead, being towed to a local scrapyard in Kerry.
