This 1977 Beetle has been a regular on the Irish show scene but I wonder did the first owner in Offaly realise just how long their new VW Beetle would survive and more importantly, how well it would be minded as it moved on in years. I doubt they or the selling garage could imagine that when the new number plate SIR-473 was fixed to the bumper and engine lid in April 1977!
We know this Beetle has looked like this since at least the early 1990’s when it was photographed having just had its restoration completed so perhaps that was when it changed from Beige to Maroon. The larger photos were taken at Martin Murray’s Eirepsares VW Show in 2016.
From memory this beauty is part of the Nenagh Classic Car Club in Tipperary but if you know otherwise please let us know.
