Sometimes when we stumble upon an old Beetle we feel that it’s a shame if it’s too far gone but at least we or some other person restoring a Beetle might get some spare parts from it. When we saw RID199 we knew that it wasn’t going to be restored or even offer any parts. Why? In simple terms, it’s toast!
I bet back in October/November 1971 when the new owner walked into Brady’s VW Dealership in either Cavan or Arva they didn’t think their beautiful orange 1300 Beetle would end up like this!
It’s hard to make out whether the front end damage on this 1300 Beetle happened as a result of a front end collision or whether it happened when it was ‘helped’ into its resting place. All we know is that this Cavan registered Beetle won’t be hitting the road anytime soon and sadly due to the extremely wet location it is sitting, not many parts will go on to keep other Beetles going.
