This poor old Fasty was destined for the crusher until Larry Hannon, a Type 3 enthusiast spotted it and had the truck diverted for a few hours, just long enough to strip it of its engine and any other parts that were still useful. Sadly it wasn’t a bad car so it could easily have been saved but when the grab lifted it from its resting place onto the truck that was the nail in its coffin.
On the upside, the parts saved from this March 1972 Fastback kept a few more Type 3 VWs on the road for a little bit longer.
