Model information

1303 Beetle

Info

June 1976 saw this 1303 Beetle land in Ireland as a fully built car. The brand new Lofoten Green (L61H) Beetle was delivered to the Naas Road facility and was processed by MDL on June 29th before being sent on a short trip to its selling dealer which was Fitzpatrick’s in Kildare. The new owner was from Laois, just across the Kildare county lines and that’s where it was registered on August 3rd when they drove away from Fitzpatrick’s garage.

When this 1303 was seen next it was the early 1990s and it had just had some repair work carried out in Kildare. The original 1300cc engine was gone and in its place was a 1200cc engine but apart from that, this 1303 looked very similar to how it did when it was new back in the summer of 1976.
