This is probably the last photo taken of this trusty workhorse before it was scrapped. It was being used on trade plates by a Dublin garage who worked on old Volkswagens but the garage closed shortly after this photo was taken and at that point most of the cars were sold off or scrapped.
If it was around today this January 1979 Late Bay Pickup would not be scrapped, in fact, it’s such a rare machine that there would be a race to become the new owner of this Meath registered Sage Green (L63H) Type 2.
