1200 Beetle Deluxe
Thanks to Joe Dempsey on Eircooled for these photos of 1971 Leitrim registered Beetle. Joe spotted this accessorised beauty at the Mountbellew Show in July 2018. It’s hard to tell from the photos it looks like it could be Gentian Blue L51B (Corbel code 9837) but it left the factory as L360 Sea Blue so it was repainted at some stage.
This Beetle left the factory on June 2nd 1971 bound for Lough Gill Service Station in Sligo where it was sold from. on June 23rd this Beetle was taxed for the first time and with its new owner in Leitrim.
When Joe spotted this ’71 in Mountbellew it was adorned in many accessories such as front and rear stone guards, Beetle Bouncer stone deflector, a badge bar, headlight eyebrows, mudflaps, bumper over-riders, rear window vent trim, finger plates and a bonnet badge. The Beetle also comes with reverse lights and highback seats.
Thanks Joe for taking the time to submit the photos of this Beetle.
UPDATE July 2022: Both Mikey Lawless and Noah Ryan happened to attend the Bundoran Show in July 2022 separately but took almost the same photos and very kindly submitted their shots of IT 9437 to the Beetle.ie Census. Thanks to you both for sending in these up to date photos. It’s always great to see old VWs still out and about, years after we first see them. I have also added a photo that was submitted to us from someone who spotted this Beetle at a show in Cavan back in 2017. We don’t have the name for the person who sent in that photo but thank you for sending it in.
