Oval Window Beetle Deluxe

ID 7868 was an Irish assembled oval-window Beetle, first registered in Cavan circa May 1955. It was a Deluxe model, as indicated by the bumper overriders and side chrome trims.
The “early” single-tail pipe exhaust is visible but curiously, it has an accessory tail pipe trim attached which would have had the effect of deflecting the exhaust gas and maybe some of the noise too, downwards towards the road. Another unusual addition is the quite large round rear-view mirror on the driver’s side. It looks like it’s mounted to the front side panel as opposed to the more usual door hinge location.
