Now it’s not every day that we feature parts, in fact, we never do but this time we thought we would add this ex-Beetle to the listing because it was an original Irish built Beetle and it was on our roads at some stage from October 1971 when it was registered in Cork up until before 1993 when the new digitised registration systems came into being. It’s not on that system so we know it wasn’t on the road after that date. So, that generally means that it was more than likely scrapped but this of course, we can figure it out for ourselves as the car was obviously broken for parts and this is where I found the engine lid with the number plate still attached. I felt it was worthy of position number 443 on the Beetle.ie Census as we get a lot of people contacting us looking for their old VWs. This will not be a happy outcome for a previous owner of this Beetle sadly but at least it will go on and supply parts to keep other Beetles on the road.
