This is what we know so far about this Beetle. It was assembled in Dublin in early January 1977 and then on January 21st it was sent to O’Reilly’s of Longford. This Senegal Red (L31A) 1200 Beetle Deluxe model was then registered with its ‘IX’ Longford reg and sent on its merry way, complete with a very happy new owner at the wheel.
Fast forward a few decades and from what we can see, GIX 37 was used by Westmeath Autos as part of their displays at shows and runs alongside their Oval Window Beetle (DI 6542) which is on permanent display in their Volkswagen showroom in Mullingar.
